Wichita Symphony Orchestra & Wichita Symphony Chorus Present: Sing Anything!

SATURDAY MAY 6TH AT 7:30 PM
Join the WSO Chorus joined by musicians of the Wichita Symphony present a celebration of life’s many stages explored through two powerful contemporary works:

#twitterlieder chronicles life from birth to old age. It comprises of 15 tweets, with no more than 140 characters in each. This work is in three acts: Act I (Youth), Act II (Middle Age), and Act III (Old Age). The very essence of tweeting is brevity, and this is reflected in the duration of each movement; a vignette in a life unfolding.

Alzheimer’s Stories offers an objective description of the disease’s discovery, a pastiche of stories shared by family members of those afflicted with Alzheimer’s. Approximately 5.3 million Americans have Alzheimer’s disease; without a cure, that number will grow to between 11 and 16 million by 2050. Almost 11 million Americans are caring for a person with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia. This piece concludes with a message of hope: “Find those you love in the dark and light. Help them through the days and nights. Keep faith. They sense what they cannot show. Love and music are the last things to go. Sing anything!”

Seating is limited and general admission.
Concert length is approximately an hour and a half.
